He graduated from Oxford University\nMedical School before undertaking specialist paediatric training at the Great\nOrmond Street Hospital for Children in London, and the Children's Hospital of\nPhiladelphia. Upon his return to Singapore, he was appointed as a senior\nlecturer and consultant at the National University of Singapore.\u003cbr\u003e\n \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eBesides clinical work, he has been involved in special\neducation. He was on the board of management of the Movement for the\nIntellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) which held its meetings at the Lee\nKong Chian Garden School. He also founded three schools under the Rainbow\nCentre which helps disabled and autistic children, namely the Rainbow Centre at\nMargaret Drive (1987), Yishun Park (1995), and Woodlands (2018). He is grateful\nto the Lee Foundation for supporting these special schools. For his work with\ndisabled children, Kenneth received the Public Service Medal in 1997 and the\nPublic Service Star in 2022.\u003cbr\u003e\n \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eDr Lyen has co-authored over 16 books on a variety of\ntopics, including paediatrics, parenting, creativity, education, and musical\ntheatre. He has published original research papers on paediatric endocrinology,\nneurology, and infectious diseases, and medical review articles. He has\npreviously served on the editorial board of the Singapore Medical Journal,\nMotherhood, and Young Families.
