Synopsis

In Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman challenges the idea that IQ alone determines success, arguing that how we understand and manage emotions can matter just as much, if not more, in everyday life. Blending accessible psychology with insights from brain science, the book explores the skills that shape strong relationships, better decision-making, and resilience under pressure. Goleman explains the building blocks of emotional intelligence—self-awareness, self-control, motivation, empathy, and social skill—and shows how they influence everything from handling conflict to communicating clearly and thriving at work.

This anniversary edition revisits a groundbreaking perspective on human potential and offers a compelling case for why emotional intelligence can be learned, strengthened, and practised to improve both personal wellbeing and real-world performance.
