National Library Board
The National Library Board (NLB) nurtures Readers for Life, Learning Communities and a Knowledgeable Nation by promoting reading, learning and history through their network of 28 libraries across Singapore, as well as digital resources consisting of eBooks, audiobooks and a plethora of online resources. Their libraries and archives aim to provide everyone a more personalised and omnichannel learning experience in person and online.

Where reading and education is concerned, POPULAR Bookstore and National Library Board (NLB) share a common goal: fostering a love for reading among Singaporeans. Some notable initiatives include the annual Readers’ Choice Awards, National Chinese Creative Reading Competition, and other author events.

 

Singapore Book Council
Established in 1968, as the former National Book Development Council of Singapore (NBDCS), Singapore Book Council (SBC) aims to “Build Our Imagine-nation” by developing creativity, imagination, original thought, and empathy. Their programmes focus on creative writing, reading, illustration, translation and storytelling.

POPULAR Bookstore and the Singapore Book Council (SBC) share a resolute mission: to champion the growth and appreciation of local Singaporean literature. Though their approaches differ, POPULAR Bookstore and the Singapore Book Council collaborate in several ways to nurture a vibrant local literary scene.

SBC strives to cultivate a strong foundation for Singaporean writers, while POPULAR Bookstore steps in by providing a platform for these voices to reach a wider audience, such as organising of the annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

 

Singapore Chinese Teacher’s Union
Founded in 1953, Singapore Chinese Teachers’ Union (SCTU) is a professional union representing Chinese language teachers in Singapore. Their mission is to promote the well-being of Chinese language teachers and contribute to the betterment of Chinese language education in Singapore.

Through a shared interest of promoting Chinese literacy, both POPULAR Bookstore and the Singapore Chinese Teachers’ Union have come together to organise competitions such as National Chinese Creative Reading Competition for students to explore Chinese literature beyond textbooks and potentially spark a love for reading in Chinese.
