The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS)
examination aims to assess learners’ literacy, numeracy and reasoning ability.
The assessments are based on the standards of the Singapore education system
and endeavour to assimilate international learners enrolled in local
institutions effectively into the rigour of the curriculum.
AEIS
Practice Tests ENGLISH – Secondary 1 (12 to 14+ Years) aims
to familiarise learners with the required assessment format and scaffold them
on essential examination techniques. Through the performance of
self-assessments, and the identification of focal areas and topics, the
learners will reinforce critical theoretical and conceptual knowledge.
Grade Level / Age Group: Secondary levels 1 to 3
(12 – 16+ years).

There are 5 sets of practice tests comprising:
• Part 1: Writing; and
• Part 2: Multiple-Choice Questions on Comprehension and Language Use.
The questions simulate the style, type and standard of those found in the AEIS
English Examination. They aim to enhance English language proficiency,
literacy, rhetoric and reasoning.
Answers
Answers to all questions are provided at the end of the book. These serve as a
quick resource for self-directed learning and to provide learners with the
opportunity to review their competency levels of the English language.
