In Secrets of Singapore: Chinatown, join best

Chinese New Year the same way, and that Samsui women were not the only ones who
wore the trademark headgear! Things become a lil’ spooky when they discover a
street of death (Gasp!) in Chinatown, unearth a tomb (not literally) and
realise why the front row of seats is always empty at getai performances during
the hungry ghost month. #shudder
That’s not all! Moo and Cluck also discover that the Chinese
are not the only ones living in Chinatown, sugarcane has a festive
significance, and some people used to make a living by writing letters to
strangers!

About the Author & Illustrator
Catherine Nadira Tan is a copywriter. She has
more than 15 years of experience in communications and has written for a vast
range of industries, from healthcare and education to construction and
hospitality. Her first book—Secrets of Singapore: National Gallery—took
first place in the category for English Children's Books at the POPULAR
Readers’ Choice Awards 2020.
Elvin Ching works as an illustrator and
storyboard artist in Singapore. He is the illustrator of several Danger
Dan and Gadget Girl books and all of the Secrets of
Singapore series; his cover for Secrets of
Singapore: National Museum won best children’s book cover
at the Popular Reader’s Choice Awards 2017. In his free time, he likes to
create his own little comics. His short stories have been published in the
Eisner-nominated comics anthology Liquid City. He has also
illustrated trading cards for Marvel, comics for the Pangu series
of books by Martha Keswick and a comic book series written by Kelly Bender.
Elvin has too many comic books at home. He has so many comics that there are
some he hasn’t even found time to read yet!
